Color war camp8/5/2023 While there is disappointment in loss, we still find joy in the success and achievement of our friends.Īs intense and competitive as Color War is, there is a deep bond in the cabin that unites friendships that no victory and no defeat, nothing can break. Each team typically consists of 8 staff members, usually: 1 General, 5 Lieutenants, and 2 Aides. During the last week of the summer, the camp is split up into two teams, 'white' and 'blue'. Even when you lose, you win because someone you love wins. Color War edit For many staff and campers alike, Color War is the highlight and culmination of the summer. This is what makes Color War so different than any other competition in life. Both teams walking away from competition with smiles, laughter and arms around their friends, regardless of winning or not. Without any prompt from the Green Giants, campers were shaking hands, offering congratultaions, wishing good luck and showing support of the opposite team with hugs and cheers. During summer camp, Color Wars is one of Camp Kudzus most popular and fun evening programs Campers are grouped into teams and harness their team spirit to. I am so proud of our campers and staff who showed amazing teamwork and integrity todayl. The competition was fantastic, but the sportsmanship was better. Dinner was a surprise…Papa John’s Pizza and Caesar Salad.ĭay one of Color War was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Lunch was BBQ Beef Sandwiches, baked potato salad, and salad bar. Breakfast was waffles, bacon, eggs, fruit bar, oatmeal and grits. Each red and white team takes pride in its themes, costumes, banners and constant cheering for five days, culminating with the traditional Sing competition. The campers worked up a large appetite, and the dining hall provided excellent fuel to keep us playing all day. Most campers and counselors agree that Color War, in which the camp is split into two teams who compete in both athletic and non-athletic activities, is without a doubt the best part of the overall Pontiac experience. The weather was incredible today - warm and sunny with a cool breeze at just the right time. Color War is an event that usually takes place towards the end of the summer which involves the whole camp, counselors included At my camp we split each camper.
